Inspiring “aha” moments to create safe and respectful workplaces.

At EEO Specialists, we aim to create safe and respectful workplaces by addressing issues related to sexual harassment, discrimination, and bullying. We offer a range of in-person workshops as well as online courses via our sister organisation – Online Compliance Training.

We have worked successfully with over 100 organisations to train more than 36,000 managers and employees about unlawful workplace behaviours and compliance. We will be happy to do the same for you.

1800s: Safety Goggles

Safety goggles with wire mesh were first introduced in the 1800s in early railroad carriages which didn’t have windows. Passengers used these goggles to prevent cinders and dust from blowing into their eyes. They were also worn by Civil War artillery soldiers, to keep smoke and sparks from their eyes while firing cannons.

The goggles in the picture were gifted by Major Mildred Ferguson and are on display at the University of Mississippi Museum.

Thankfully, protective eyewear has evolved into sophisticated options with many safety features. We’ve come a long way, but we can’t get complacent. Work Safe Month is a good time to consider that health and safety is everyone’s business, and we all have a part to play.
