What are Psychosocial Hazards?

Psychosocial hazards refer to workplace factors that can cause stress, harm, or injury to employees’ mental and emotional wellbeing. The WA Code of Practice provides a four-step process that all employers must follow:

1. Identify hazards and risks.

2. Assess those risks.

3. Establish controls to eliminate or minimize them.

4. Maintain and audit those controls regularly.

The Code highlights 20 common psychosocial hazards across 6 key areas, including manager responsibilities, organisational behaviour, and workplace trauma.
