Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct

Your Code. Their responsibility. Our job is to make it stick.

Your Code. Their responsibility. Our job is to make it stick.

Most employees have signed off on a Code of Conduct. Far fewer actually understand what it means for them — or how it applies to the real situations they face every day at work.

When employees don’t understand their Code, it can’t do the job it was designed to do. Responsibilities go unmet, boundaries get crossed, and organisations — particularly those with statutory obligations — are left exposed.

Overview

In an engaging, interactive, customised approach, employees are introduced to their organisation’s Code of Conduct through hypothetical scenarios that allow them to practically understand the workings of their Code and how it applies to everyday life at their workplace. The result is that they leave better informed of their responsibilities, consequences and who they can speak to for information and support.

All state government agencies, local government areas, and other statutory entities are required to have a Code of Conduct in accordance with the Public Sector Management Act 1994 (WA). Many other organisations also choose to have a code as part of outlining expectations around workplace behaviours. Educating all employees is a natural progression; it can can bring to life the principles outlined in the Code.

This workshop is customised to individual clients to create relevant, engaging content that educates their employees in relation to their organisation’s Code of Conduct.

Frequently asked questions

Code of Conduct training helps employees understand the standards of behaviour expected within their workplace and how those expectations apply in everyday situations. Our workshop moves beyond simply explaining the Code, using practical workplace examples and discussion to explore what appropriate, respectful and professional behaviour looks like in practice.

Yes. We can tailor the workshop to reflect your organisation’s Code of Conduct, values, policies, terminology and workplace expectations. This helps participants connect the content directly to the standards that apply within their own workplace.

Yes. The workshop can be delivered to employees, managers or mixed groups. For managers, we can place additional emphasis on role modelling expected behaviours, responding to concerns, addressing inappropriate conduct and creating a culture where the Code is consistently applied.

Yes. The Code of Conduct workshop can be delivered either face-to-face or virtually. We adapt the activities and facilitation approach to maintain interaction and participation in either format.

The workshop can be tailored to suit your organisation’s needs and available training time. Generally we allow 3-3.5 hours as a minimum session.

Our Code of Conduct training can be adapted for organisations across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. The content is customised to reflect your workplace environment, workforce and the types of situations your people may encounter.
